Experimental International Time Travel

So I was taking a look at my travel info again and noticed something incredible.  I think I'm going to be part of an international experiment in time travel.  I know it's hard to believe but check this mind blower right out!

So I'm leaving the US on 10/13, right? Well I'm arriving on 10/15 and the flight is just 13.5 hours not like 32! I've heard about some time zone, international date line type of mumbo jumbo, but according to the Doc the flux capacitor is what makes time travel possible, so that's obviously bullshit.  That means I'm going to skip right over October 14th.  I wonder what would have happened to me on that day? Maybe I would have picked the winning lottery numbers? Maybe met the love of my life? On the other hand, maybe I would have died that day. So maybe it's a good thing I'll be missing that day. Screw you grim reaper, catch me if you can bitch!

You might just think this is some kind of crazy once in a lifetime thing but it's NOT!  When I come back I'll be leaving March 21st at 2:05pm and arriving back in California on March 21st at 6:30 fucking AM!  That's 7.5hours BEFORE I LEFT!  If that doesn't blow your mind then go kill yourself!  I hope it doesn't hurt to travel through time. I don't think it will though. I wonder if I can take pictures of time travel? Now I'm scared, someone hold me.

P.S.  It might not be a good idea to taunt the grim reaper before taking a stupidly long ride on an airplane. Screwed again!

Travel Itinerary

I just got my travel itinerary so I guess I'm officially official!  I've got about 10 more days to get my apt packed up and be ready to leave.

I'm leaving here for Denver on the afternoon of the 11th.

2days of orientation in Denver.

Then leaving on the 13th from Denver to LAX, then onto Auckland, NZ, then to Christchurch, NZ.

This part isn't on the travel itinerary but I think I stay in NZ for a couple days before that last stretch to Antarctica.

Leaving to see other parts of the world on my birthday. Not a bad birthday present.

They sent me an email requesting me to resend a page I already sent because I forgot to sign it. Oops.

Emptying My Apartment

I seriously hate moving!  I've been throwing away as much as I can, and I'm wedging everything into a 5x10 storage unit. So I don't have much space to play with but it still seems like a lot.  I'm kind of tired but I have to go buy some stuff to take with me on my little adventure.  Ok, I'm done typing now...

Look a pony!

Did I mention I'm still waiting...

So I still haven't heard anything officially yet. They asked  me for some more paperwork today. If I had to guess I'd bet I've filled out more paperwork for this one job than I have for every other job I've ever had combined!

Anyway.  All I'm waiting on is my lab work to come back.  Labcorp cc'd my doctor on the results and he sent em to me with a note saying that everything "looks good".  Sooooooo....my assumption is that everything is about as green lit as it can be without an officially sanctioned green light.

P.S.  I look really fat in my passport photo.  Not just because I'm really fat, I know I am. I see my face in the mirror ever morning so I could totally pick me out of a line up but they made me look extra super juice fat. Fuckers!

Still waiting...

So I'm still waiting on the official word that I'm cleared to go. I checked yesterday with the medical folks. They've gotten all the paperwork for my physical, dental work, and drug test and I'm good to go on them. So now I'm just waiting on the blood work to come back.

First Post

Well I've never tried the blog thing before. I figured since I'm doing this whole Antarctica thing this would be a good time to give it a shot.

Soooo....  If you're reading this then you must already know that I was offered a job In Antarctica.  I'll be working for Raytheon Polar Services doing work for the National Science Foundation.  I'll be living and working at McMurdo Station doing the same computer nerdy stuff I do now.

As of right now I'm still waiting for my medical clearance before I can go. There are limited medical facilities on the ice, so they have to make sure there isn't anything seriously wrong with you that could flare up while you're there. My physical went without a hitch. I did the blood & drug tests yesterday so I'm still waiting on those results.  The dentist was the biggest part so far. I had to have a gnarly deep root scaling thing done, have several cavities filled, and all my stupid wisdom teeth pulled. So I've got my fingers crossed they don't find something crazy in my blood work that I don't know about.
